New Charity Partnership: Dress For Success

Linz Darlington | 9 October 15

There are many amazing charities that support long-term unemployed and vulnerable women develop the skills and confidence they need to apply for jobs. Dress for Success is another one that provides the icing on the cake.

Part of a global network and now in London for 15 years, Dress for Success provides a smart outfit for women who have a job interview so they not only feel the part but look it, too.

Clients using Dress for Success will spend an hour with an experienced stylist to find an outfit, which will make them look and feel professional as well as comfortable. All items donated are either end-of-line ranges from brand manufacturers, or pre-loved clothing of extremely high quality. Clients will also have a session with a job coach to help them prepare for the interview.

Dress for Success offer their services to women from vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds. Despite their circumstances, one in two of Dress for Success’s clients land jobs and become more economically independent. They are then invited back to the charity for more outfits to see them through a working week.

The charity also provides a mentoring scheme to help clients build their careers, as well as a Professional Women’s Group (PWG) where clients in work can meet with other women for mutual support and friendship.

There are many ways supporters can help the charity and you can find out more by going to the charity’s website, here.

We’re delighted to welcome Dress for Success to Benefacto. If you’d like to use your skills to help them help more women into work then click here.

We're helping companies big and small run more effective employee volunteering programmes

Linz Darlington was inspired to start Benefacto when he worked as a management consultant for Accenture. With three paid days off a year to spend volunteering, he had a tough time choosing a local charity where his skills could make a real impact. These days he spends his life matching talented professionals with amazing charities. Contact Linz via linz@benefacto.org.
